SALT LAKE CITY — All states have their accents, sayings and little linguistic quirks that make each unique.

Utah has some distinct dialect features. For example, have you noticed the dropped "T" when saying certain words? You maybe just said “cer-’in” when you read the word “certain” in the previous sentence.

Also, Utahns tend to have a tough time with diphthongs. Example: Meal is pronounced by some as “mel” and sale is pronounced as “sell.” Lastly, some Utahns tend to pronounce the suffix "-ing" as "ĭn", whereas some pronounce the suffix as "een".

For this poll, we’re asking you to answer a few questions that will help determine how Utahns speak and if some of the Utah accent traits are true or not. There is no right or wrong answer. Please answer honestly.
