HOLLYWOOD — While Brigham Young University student Teresa Jack was at The Little Mermaid Live at The Hollywood Bowl Saturday, Kourtney Kardashian snapped a photo of her modest Ariel costume.

Teresa Jack loves “The Little Mermaid,” and she said she really wanted to be Ariel for Halloween, but she didn’t have a good costume that fit her standards. She decided to make her own Ariel costume, and it turned out great.

Jack didn’t have to bare much skin as a mermaid. Her costume includes a tan-colored, cap-sleeved shirt with Ariel’s iconic seashell bra attached and a shiny, convincing-looking fin.

Since she secured front-row tickets at the live concert featuring Sara Bareilles, Rebel Wilson, John Stamos and Darren Criss, the Kardashians had to walk past her seat.

Jack said she was wearing her Ariel costume at the concert, and when Kourtney Kardashian first walked in, she looked at Jack and said to her daughter, “Look, Penelope, it’s Ariel.” During intermission, Jack walked past Kardashian, who stopped her and said, “Hold on, I need this in my life, I need your Ariel costume in my life.”

“She asked me if she could take a picture of it, and so I went and I grabbed my fin, because I can’t walk in my fin, and I put my fin on for her, and we talked for a minute and she was so nice, she was so nice,” Jack said. “She just told me that she loves Ariel too, and she thought that my costume was super cute, which made me so happy because there were like hundreds of girls there dressed as Ariel, and she liked mine.”

Kardashians children came over, and Jack talked to them as if she was Ariel.

Jack said that it’s hard to stay modest and fashionable in the summertime, and she knows it’s easy for young girls to give up.

“It’s easy to say, ‘Well it’s not that bad,’ or ‘It’s just fashion,’ and I know when I was younger, I wore a lot of things that weren’t very modest, because it was what was available and it was what was in fashion,” she said. “But I just want girls to know that class and dignity … are always in fashion. It’s always fashionable to have standards. It’s always fashionable to do what you feel is right before Heavenly Father, and so those things don’t go out of style.” Jack said she wants younger girls to have role models who are modest and who are beautiful.

“Kourtney Kardashian thought that I was pretty enough to post on her Instagram. She thought that my costume is beautiful, and she has a very different set of standards than I do as far as modesty goes. So to me, that shows that modest is beautiful all around and that anyone can appreciate it,” Jack said.
