ST. GEORGE — An 18-year-old man is dead and a 16-year-old girl suffered critical injuries after a rollover on SR-18 early Sunday morning.
According to Utah Highway Patrol officers, Drex Taylor of St. George, was driving north in a silver sedan on SR-18 when for some reason the car drifted across the southbound lane and off the road before overturning. The car then rolled back onto the roadway and came to a rest in the southbound lane.
Police said Taylor and the girl were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle.
Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene and the girl was taken by LifeFlight to Dixie Regional Medical Center in “extremely critical condition.” She was not identified by police other than that she was from Veyo, Utah.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police said they believe fatigue contributed in the crash. Officials added they don’t believe drugs or alcohol played a factor.
