SALT LAKE CITY — Utah baseball took its lumps when it first joined the Pac-12.
Now, not so much.
The Utes won their sixth conference series of the year with an 8-3 victory over Stanford Sunday, and their 15-9 record more than doubled their previous win total since joining the conference in 2011.
Dallas Carroll went 3-for-5 with three doubles for the Utes (20-25), and DaShawn Keirsey Jr., Cody Scaggari and Josh Rose each had two RBIs.
Starter Josh Lapiana allowed two runs on seven hits with three walks and a strikeout but didn't figure in the decision. Reliever Riley Ottesen went 2 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and three walks to earn his first collegiate victory.
Utah leads the Pac-12 with two weeks to play and will host rival BYU at 7 p.m. MT Tuesday.
