SALT LAKE CITY — Former University of Utah running back Devontae Booker has signed a contract with the Denver Broncos.

Booker, the No. 136 overall pick of the NFL Draft, signed a four-year, $2.7 million deal with the Broncos Friday. Booker made $383,393 in his signing bonus, according to spotrac.com, which details the contracts of athletes.

In addition to Booker’s signing bonus, he is guaranteed an additional $383,393 in salary and will make $450,000 in his base salary in 2016, according to spotrac.com. Booker’s base salary will increase $90,000 each year over the duration of his contract and will average $680,848 each year.

Booker’s contract will go through the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

Since joining the Broncos, Booker has been limited in workouts while recovering from his knee injury, according to the Broncos’ website, but is expected to participate fully starting in June. Booker missed the first day of Broncos minicamp to attend graduation at the University of Utah.

Booker is one of a handful of running backs vying for a starting role, including C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman. Broncos general manager and former Broncos quarterback John Elway tweeted on draft night that the team selected Booker because he was one of the “highest rated RBs on our board.”
