CEDAR CITY — Virginia Brownsell totaled a school-record 9.95 on floor to help No. 23 Southern Utah gymnastics stun No. 3 Michigan on Friday in the Thunderbirds' home finale.

SUU scored a 196.300 in front of 2,933 fans at Centrum Arena to top the Wolverines, who scored 195.750 and UC Davis (194.025).

Natalie Trejo and Stacie Webb each added a 9.900 on floor and Madyson Blake had a 9.850 on vault.

"I thought the girls put together an amazing meet," SUU head coach Scott Bauman said. "From the get-go on vault, from the very first kid to the very last kid on floor, we put some of our best gymnastics out there. I couldn't be more proud, and I couldn't be happier for the girls."

Michigan's Olivia Karas and Austin Sheppard scored a meet-best 9.900 and 9.875, respectively, on vault.
