AMERICAN FORK — A major accident closed northbound I-15 near American Fork on Saturday afternoon.

The crash occurred near milepost 278 (500 E.), near American Fork Main St./Pioneer Crossing.

At around 12:52 p.m., a white Chevy pickup truck was traveling northbound when, for reasons unknown, the vehicle lost control and stuck the cement wall, according to UHP. The vehicle then continued out into the travel lanes, where two additional vehicles collided with the truck.

The driver of the pickup truck was flown to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in critical condition, UHP reported. Two other passengers were taken by ground to local hospitals in serious condition.

All northbound lanes were reopened around 4:30 p.m.
