ST. LOUIS, Missouri — This one goes out to any parent who has ever grown weary of being treated like a bottomless wallet.

A St. Louis dad taught his 6-year-old an important — and hilarious — lesson about finances with a loan rejection letter from "DAD Savings and Loan."

The boy apparently asked his father for a $20 advance on his allowance so he could buy a toy, according to "Today." A seemingly simple request, had the boy not had "insufficient funds and a history of not doing your chores."

The rejection letter says the loan is far from justified, since the boy had already spent an "unjustifiable" $80 on "discretionary entertainment expenses" since Christmas. DAD Savings and Loan notes it "cannot further compound the problem by financially assisting with occurring further debt at this point."

There is hope, however. The "dispute manager" over at the complaints department, otherwise known as "Mom," may be able to persuade a reversal of the decision. But that would likely be a tough sell.

DAD Savings and Loan — whose motto is "Because apparently I look like I'm made of money" — closes the letter by thanking the boy for his business. The one-of-a-kind letter exploded on Reddit, where it has more than 5 million views and hundreds of comments.

"As a dad, thank you for the template," wrote one inspired user.

"Hire this dad to run the United States of America's spending department!" wrote another fan.

Multiple Reddit users requested job applications, while others begged for a template.
