HYRUM, Cache County — Through the months of January and February, Eric Newell takes handfuls of fifth-graders from the Edith Bowen Laboratory School to Hardware Ranch to feed wild Elk herds.

"It's very rewarding to bring the kids up here," Newell said. "If our goal is to produce effective citizens and people that are going to contribute to society, getting them involved in things like this that are bigger than them and giving their curriculum a purpose is magic."
