MAGNA — A 44-year-old man is in critical condition after the RV he was working on fell off a jack Saturday, officials said.

The man was transported to University Hospital in critical condition by medical helicopter after the motor home, which he owns, fell on him, according to the Unified Fire Authority. The accident occurred at Utah Self Storage, located at 3875 S. 8400 West in Magna.

"It was just an awkward situation," said battalion chief Mac Lund. "The motor home was low clearance. The gentleman was working on it and it slipped off the jacks, pinned him down. He was still able to breathe but he wasn't breathing well. It wasn't totally resting on him, but it was resting on him."

The motor home is about 34-feet long, according to officials. They said the tires were removed from the vehicle so during the accident the motor home settled "totally down" and rested on the man's torso.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
