PROVO — BYU and the high-scoring Cincinnati Bearcats squared off in Provo Friday night, and like every other win this season, the Cougars decided to wait until the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

BYU started off sluggish to say the least and gave up 10 points in the first quarter and then to 17-3 early in the second.

While BYU didn't have a lot going for them early in the first half, they did have a big blocked field goal that helped them gain some momentum.

BYU couldn't capitalize on the special teams block and QB Tanner Mangum started missing some wide open receivers.

Mangum then threw a pick that led to a Cincy TD and a lead of 17-3. BYU decided to get things on track and Mangum started hitting receivers and Algie Brown started churning out yards on the ground. The Cougars then went for it on fourth, converted and then a few plays later Brown punched it in for six.

The Cougars went into the locker room at the half down 17-10, but when BYU came out for the second half they looked like a whole new team, especially Mangum.

Speaking of Kurtz, the kid had a great game with two TDs, 119 yards, and a beautiful grab that's a Sports Center Top 10 nominee.

Cincy found the end zone one more time to go up 24-17 heading into the fourth, but that was the last time they'd see the end zone. The BYU defense played lights out on the fourth quarter and ended the night with eight sacks.

The BYU offense also had a steller fourth quarter with 21 unanswered points to come from behind and seal the victory.
