MURRAY — A man was killed after being hit by a TRAX train, officials said.

Friday night at the 4500 South TRAX station in Murray, a 40-year-old man in a wheelchair became stuck in the train tracks as he attempted to cross, according to Remi Barron, spokesman for UTA. A female companion the man was with attempted to help him free the wheel which was stuck in the tracks. The man attempted to stand up, but fell into the tracks where he was struck by a train and killed, Barron said.

The man has not been identified pending notification of kin. Delays up to 20 minutes were reported, Barron said, and UTA officials were working to find alternate routes for patrons, including busses.
