SANDY — Real Salt Lake's front office restructuring continued with the promotion of Andy Carroll as the club's chief business officer, RSL announced Wednesday.

RSL owner Dell Loy Hansen announced via news release the promotion, giving one of his top executive jobs to Carroll, who was most recently RSL's vice president of corporate sponsorships since 2012.

"During his three years here and throughout his entire career, Andy has displayed an amazing ability to connect people and brands and ideas," Hansen said in a statement. "Andy has led our efforts to connect RSL with the corporate community, and his leadership and experience should energize how we engage our growing fan base as we further expand our roots throughout Utah and the Intermountain West."

The move comes a week after Hansen made similar promotions to the club's general manager and soccer administration roles. Technical director Craig Waibel, a former RSL assistant coach, was given the GM tag, while Real Monarchs president Rob Zarkos was promoted to vice president of soccer administration. Those moves followed the departure of longtime RSL president Bill Manning from the club after his contract expired in July.

Carroll's current responsibilities include overseeing all business operations of RSL and its third-division affiliate Real Monarchs, including ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, marketing, communications, public relations, media and game operations.

In Carroll's first full year with RSL in 2013, the club was recognized with Major League Soccer's corporate sponsorship of the year award. Throughout his career, Carroll has been responsible for acquiring more than $70 million in corporate sponsorships, according to the news release. His sponsor relationships include companies like Visa, Under Armour, Nike, Pepsi, Tommy Hilfiger and RSL's current jersey sponsor LifeVantage.

Prior to joining RSL, Carrol was the chief marketing officer for the Utah Grizzlies, where he helped secure the first-ever naming rights to what was then the E Center in West Valley, now named for local convenience store magnate Maverik Inc.

"Everyone involved with Real Salt Lake during the first 11 years should be proud of the vibrant soccer culture we have built here," Carroll said in a statement. "As the league and sport grow, our business and community relationships must deepen and expand in order to support the aspirations we have for the organization, top to bottom."
