CALGARY, Canada — Severe weather is no joke, but the resulting videos tend to be nothing short of compelling.
In Utah this year, flash floods and hail made for awe-inspiring video in Glen Canyon and other parts of Lake Powell. It's one thing to see that in natural waterways, but it's quite another to see a similar hail river flowing down the middle of house-lined street.
On Aug. 4, a massive thunderstorm storm hit Calgary, dropping hailstones the size of Loonies (the Canadian dollar coin.) CBC News reported wide-spread power outages and flooding after they city's storm drains became choked with debris and hail.
The city reported 440 calls for assistance, and workers helped rescue several motorists. Luckily, no injuries were reported, which boggles the mind a bit when you see the compilation video posted on CBC's Facebook page.
Sheets of hail slowly flow down a flooded street to start out, then each following video snippet gives a little insight to the damage and the severe conditions the city experienced. There is so much hail, some scenes look like a winter wonderland.
The storm may have been scary for Calgarians in the moment, but at least one garbage can got to go for a little fun ride during the storm.
