SALT LAKE CITY — If you could look through the window of a little boy's life, what would you see? At face value you might see a smiling, happy child who looks like he doesn't have a care in the world.

On Wednesday, 14-year-old Kolby was that child as he was surrounded by things he loves most, Legos.

"I want to be a master builder because I'm good with my hands," he said.

On Wednesday he had the entire Lego store at Fashion Place Mall to himself.

"I got free Legos," he said with a laugh.

Piece by piece, Kolby constructed his masterpiece.

"I want to make a Bluetooth Lego set," he said as he concentrated on the tiny pieces in front of him.

The key to this boy's heart comes in blue, white and yellow.

"I like taking apart stuff and putting them back together," he said.

But there's one thing broken apart, no matter how hard he tries, can't be put back together. There are no set of instructions to show him the right way.

"I keep moving from family to family," he said.

Kolby keeps moving because Kolby lives in the Utah Foster Care system and days like Wednesday don't happen very often. When it came time to ask the tough questions like why he's in foster care or how long it's been, it was clear it was something no child should ever have to answer.

"This is really hard," he said.

The bottom line is, he wants a family of his own.

He doesn't know what his future will bring, but he hopes the next time someone looks his way, they'll see who he really is: a child needing a place he can call home forever.
