OREM — Creating a viral video usually takes luck, skill and a truly entertaining idea.

While no one can predict which videos will explode on YouTube, certain individuals consistently achieve success. Several of these stars will be on hand Aug. 7-8 for CVX Live at the UCCU Center at Utah Valley University.

The idea for a Utah-based YouTube convention was first promoted by the creative minds behind the popular Bored Shorts video series. The Bored Shorts team had attended numerous events in other states and found them to be great experiences. The only thing missing was a local version.

“This is the first event of its kind,” said Ryan Haldeman, a producer at Bored Shorts TV. “There will be music, magic, exclusive video premieres of content not yet released on YouTube, demonstrations, and more from some of the biggest YouTubers in the world.”

One of the big draws, according to Haldeman, will be the opportunity for fans to meet their favorite YouTube creators. Some of the highlights from this year’s lineup will include Devin “Super Tramp” Graham, CuteGirlsHairstyles, Stuart Edge and Studio C.

Participating performers include:

Studio C

Stuart Edge

Gathering so many YouTube stars in one place has proven to be a challenge.

“Everyone has such crazy schedules that it's hard for many channels to commit,” Haldeman said. “And most channels don't have a manager that can tell you where they're going to be and when.”

Though the scheduling process is difficult, many of Utah’s biggest YouTube stars have stepped up to ensure the event is a success. This collaborative effort has impressed Haldeman, and he said that “YouTubers in Utah are truly a community.”

Tickets for CVX Live start at $20 for a general admission day pass. There are also two-day passes and VIP passes available for an additional amount. Children 3 and under are free.
