CANADA — Former BYU wide receiver Austin Collie celebrated the Fourth of July the way any good American football player should: by scoring a touchdown in Canada.

Collie caught his first career touchdown in regular-season Canadian Football League play Saturday in his BC Lions’ 27-16 loss to the Ottawa Redblacks.

The former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver finished with five catches for 65 yards and the third-quarter touchdown.

Collie’s 27-yard scoring grab was quarterback Travis Lulay’s first score since 2013. The former BYU all-time leading receiver scored on a post route in the back of the end zone to give the Lions a 16-13 lead with 3:33 left in the third quarter.

The touchdown was also BC’s first score in Ottawa since 2005.
