LEHI — A 2-year-old boy is dead after being struck by a sports utility vehicle leaving a Lehi neighborhood.
Lehi police Sgt. Bill Loveridge said the accident happened at 5:35 p.m. Saturday at 3479 W. New Land Loop, where the child was riding his scooter in the street as his father walked along.
As a woman was leaving the area in her SUV, the child turned his scooter in front of her vehicle and was struck.
"It happened so quick and so close to the vehicle that the driver didn't have anytime to react, or even really (what had happened)," Loveridge said.
The name of the child was not released Saturday.
Loveridge said no citations are planned to be issued.
"It was very traumatic for everybody," the sergeant said.
