ALABAMA — There are few family vacations that are as easy and enjoyable as a good beach vacation. Families get the freedom to relax and enjoy each other while playing and being near one of the most beautiful sights in the world — the ocean.

However, you may have a hard time picking a destination for your trip to the beach. Many Utahns head to the nearby California coastline, but Alabama and the Gulf of Mexico have some of the best beaches in the world.

Here are five reasons why your next beach trip should be to Alabama.

Warm water, white beaches

The Gulf Shores and Orange Beach area are located right on the Gulf of Mexico, offering warm tropical-like water, sugary sand beaches and beautiful views. These areas offer the type of beaches we often picture when envisioning a perfect tropical getaway in an exotic place, except it's available on the mainland of the United States.

Affordable

Even during the busy season, condo, hotel and vacation rentals are relatively affordable in comparison to their beach-town counterparts (Panama City and Destin.) This makes it an attractive option for families.

Affordable vacation rentals are available at every corner. If they are not right on the beach, they are just a short walk away, providing the setting for a comfortable vacation, while giving the freedom to cook some meals at home.

Easy to get to

When traveling as a family, you want an easy trip without a lot of hassle. Getting to the beach areas of Alabama is as easy as flying into Pensacola, Florida, and taking a quick drive. For many in the nearby surrounding areas, they see a lot of tourists from the Midwest and thier reach is expanding, making commodities even more accessible.

Family-friendly atmosphere

Every restaurant in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach is casual and welcoming of families with children of all ages. There are so many fun activities on and off the beach that will keep children entertained and delighted. There are also a lot of fun nature paths and hikes that families can bike and explore.

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Alabama pride themselves on being family centric. They work hard to maintain peace on and off the beaches and to keep the area safe.

Something for everyone

Alabama beaches are a great spot to take multi-generational family trips because there are so many different types of activities that will appeal to anyone in any age group. Adventure seekers will enjoy ziplining, scuba-diving and paddle boarding to Alligator Island at Lake Shelby.

History buffs will enjoy vising Fort Morgan with its scenes of historic civil war battles. Little children will enjoy the Gulf Shore Zoo and hanging out with lemurs and teens will be entertained by go-karts, mini golf and spending time at The Wharf.
