DRAPER — Hundreds of commuters who normally have a pretty smooth ride on FrontRunner experienced a nightmare commute Wednesday evening. A fatal accident involving a train quickly added up to hours of delays.

The accident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. at 13000 South and 550 West. Passengers on the incident train had to wait on the train for about two hours before it was transported to a different station, according to Utah Transit Authority.

Both FrontRunner and Union Pacific trains were delayed for about 60 minutes, according to Lt. Gary McGrath, with the UTA Police Department.

A bus bridge was implemented to transport the passengers to the next station so they could get on another FrontRunner train and get where they need to go, McGrath said. And as of 10 p.m. the trains resumed normal service.

UTA said the accident was an apparent suicide.
