MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the date for the Meridian Idaho Temple groundbreaking in a press release on Friday.

The groundbreaking will take place on Aug. 23, 2014, at 10 a.m.

The temple, located at 7345 North Linder Road, will be the LDS Church’s fifth temple in Idaho. The other temples are located in Boise, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls and Rexburg.

“Latter-day Saint temples differ from the meetinghouses or chapels where members meet for Sunday worship services. A temple is considered a 'house of the Lord,' where Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other ordinances that unite families for eternity,” the press release said.
