CACHE COUNTY — Cache County Search and Rescue said the body of a missing teen was recovered from Hyrum Reservoir Wednesday evening.

Responders received a call at about 7:30 p.m. of a possible drowning, Lt. Eric Stucki with Utah State Parks said.

Stucki said the teen was swimming with friends and cousins on the southwest part of Hyrum Reservoir. He swam about 20 feet out, became fatigued then panicked and went under the water.

Because he was swimming, the boy was not wearing a life jacket. The area where the teen went missing can range from 15 to 30 feet deep, Stucki said.

Stucki said that teams from Cache County Search and Rescue and Utah State Parks worked together in the search. Resources included a dive team, water resource members and three vessels with side-scan sonar.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
