OREM — Ryan Curtis drove in four runs, including a solo home run in the sixth inning, in leading Bountiful to a 6-4 win over Spanish Fork in the Class 4A State Baseball Championship game Friday at Brent Brown Ballpark.

Curtis hit a two-run single in the bottom of the second inning that put the Braves in the lead for good.

Parker Depasquale pitched a complete game and struck out seven Spanish Fork batters to earn the win.

“From Day One we knew we were capable of winning a state championship,” Depasquale said after celebrating with his teammates. “We all believed it and we bought into it.”

Spanish Fork jumped on Depasquale early and took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. They led 3-1 in the second inning until Curtis keyed a four-run inning for Bountiful.

Several members of the baseball team were also a part of Bountiful’s Class 4A State Basketball championship in March, and now they are celebrating their first baseball title since 1988.

“This is a huge day for Bountiful High,” Depasquale says. “Basketball won it. Now it was our turn and we won it. It’s a dream for us as a team and for the school.”

The Braves finish their championship run with a 20-game win streak.
