HERRIMAN — A 16-year-old from Herriman will fulfill his dream of attending the Super Bowl Sunday with the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Chandler, a student a Herriman High School, is in New Jersey with his family as they prepare for Super Bowl XLVIII. He will join 12 other kids who are fighting life-threatening medical conditions to watch the Seattle Seahawks play the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium.

“Chandler is thrilled to experience his dream weekend at the Super Bowl,” said Utah Wish Coordinator Abbi Brightwell in a statement. “The power and magic of a wish brings that little extra hope and joy into the lives of our wish kids and their families, and it’s amazing to see the impact the wish experience has on their lives.”

The schedule of events surrounding the Super Bowl for the kids and families continues to change, according to Utah Communications Manager Kelly Wolfe. The 13 kids are from nine different states.

"What we know from our office is that it's just going to be an amazing bunch of surprises," she said. "They are going to have time to sight-see and stuff like that in New York."

At least one child has attended the Super Bowl with Make-A-Wish since 1982, according to the foundation. In the past 10 years, the organization said more than 130 wishes to attend the Super Bowl have been granted.

Chandler was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma, a fast-growing cancer. Wolfe said children are nominated for Make-A-Wish by medical professionals or a family member with detailed knowledge of their health.
