SALT LAKE CITY — Murder charges have been filed against a woman who told police she was intoxicated when she stabbed a man near a downtown homeless shelter.

Natalie Fern Bluehouse, 50, was charged with first-degree felony murder in 3rd District Court on Wednesday after police say she stabbed Willie D. Hollingsworth, 49, with a kitchen knife almost two months ago.

Witnesses told police Bluehouse was yelling and threatening to stab Hollingsworth during an argument, charges state.

Bluehouse turned herself in to police earlier this month. She told officers she was intoxicated when she stabbed the Arizona man, according to jail documents.

Hollingsworth was found on the northeast corner of the shelter, 210 S. Rio Grande, with an unknown medical problem on Nov. 20. It wasn't until he was examined by doctors at an area hospital that they discovered he had been stabbed in the abdomen, according to police. He later died.

A search of court records indicates Bluehouse has a long history of alcohol-related misdemeanor offenses dating back to 2002. She pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance in 2008, as well as attempted possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and aggravated assault in 2010.
