COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — The snowstorm presented plenty of problems for plows along the Wasatch Front, but some residents in Cottonwood Heights are worried that they haven't seen a plow all day.
Like many places, it snowed all day in Cottonwood Heights, making it tricky and often treacherous to get around.
"Unless you have four-wheel-drive, you don't get out," said Cottonwood Heights resident Laur Bullock.
On November 1, the city contracted with Colorado-based Terracare Associates to plow the city's streets. Mayor Kelvyn Cullimore said that the company did a better job today than it did during the storm two weeks ago. "They've done much better. We still have had some challenges getting into the residential areas," Cullimore said.
Although the primary streets were in decent shape, considering the storm, there were still neighborhoods unplowed by late afternoon Thursday.
Bullock has lived on Deer Creek Circle in Cottonwood heights for over 40 years, and he said the condition of his road is "horrible."
He has called the city several times, but he said the either the line is busy or he gets put on hold.
Other residents said they are certain a plow would have come through by this time last year, and it makes them worry.
"If there was an emergency, it would be really tough," said resident Dennis Magaro.
The city doubled the number of plows from 5 to 10 since the last storm, and they plan to add one more big plow next week and others if necessary.
"We've had meeting after meeting since that first storm. We talked about strategies and prioritization of roads," Cullimore said.
As this storm dies down, plows should be able to move into the neighborhoods.
