SCRANTON, Pa. — The NBC sitcom "The Office" has been on the air for nine seasons, and the Dunder Mifflin crew is finally saying goodbye.
The final episode of the series will air Thursday, May 16. In honor of the show, we thought we'd take a look at five of the greatest moments from the series.
This is not an end-all-be-all list, but it's pretty solid. While "The Office" has lost some of its steam over the years, it doesn't mean it hasn't had some great, hilarious and often poignant moments.

Jim Halpert has pulled a thousand practical jokes on Dwight Schrute. He's done everything from placing all of Dwight's belongings in a vending machine, moving his desk to the bathroom and, of course, putting his stapler in Jell-O. But the one prank that takes the cake is future Dwight.
When Jim transfers to the Stamford branch he steals some of Dwight's stationary and sends him faxes from "Future Dwight."
Genius.
In an effort to teach the office a lesson for not paying attention to his safety seminar, Dwight decides to start a real fire to help them learn about emergency preparedness.
The assistant to the regional manager's good intentions quickly turn into a nightmare, and what happens next is total chaos.
All I can say is, do whatever you can to save Bandit.
In the episode "The Injury," Michael Scott manages to cook his foot when he inadvertently steps into a George Forman Grill.
While the episode is packed with great moments like Dwight's concussion, Ryan looking for pudding cups and Pam getting buddy-buddy with a concussed Dwight, Michael's grilled appendage wrapped in bubble wrap is the highlight.
"I love waking up to the smell of sizzling bacon, sue me."
At the end of season two Jim and Pam's relationship hit a crossroads.
Jim couldn't keep his feelings a secret anymore and he finally told Pam he loved her, but her response isn't what he — or fans — were hoping for.
Jump forward to the end of the episode and Jim grabs Pam and kisses her. The TV world was on pins and needles when the episode abruptly ended.
Well played, TV execs. You suckered us into watching the season three premier.
The backbone of "The Office" was Steve Carrell's Michael Scott, and when he left the show in season seven it was like a punch to the gut with a slap on the funny bone.
The episode itself was pretty funny, but when Michael actually says goodbye to Pam in the airport it's probably the most touching scene in the history of the show, and probably the saddest part.
Not only was it sad because Michael was leaving, but also because we knew that racist rants, that's-what-she-said jokes, and baloney and ketchup sandwiches were a thing of the past.

So here's another Jim prank on Dwight.
Jim shows up to work dressed as Dwight and does a pretty impressive impersonation. While this is hilarious, it's when Dwight imitates Jim later on that the gag is pure gold.
"Identity theft is not a joke, Jim!"
