MAGNA — Emergency responders worked for more than an hour before they were finally able to free a woman from her car after an accident on Highway 201.
The 25-year-old woman's vehicle was partially underneath a semitrailer near 10600 West on state Route 201, according to UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson. The woman was conscious and talking with responders.
"She was kind of pushed down at the steering wheel level, down in the foot well area," said Unified Fire Captain Cliff Burningham said. "We couldn't get to her until we moved that vehicle from under the semi trailer."
It's believed the semitrailer was pulling onto the 2100 South freeway to head west around 7:53 a.m. Wednesday when the car traveling east collided with it. The woman was extricated around 9:10. She was flown to University of Utah Hospital in very critical condition.
