SANDY -- Dozens of people escaped the valley Saturday morning to watch some of Utah's other residents enjoy the mountains.

Animal lovers both young and old gathered on 9400 South at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Sandy to admire the mountain goats. Kids could participate in games and activities until noon.

Wildlife officials host the event each year to get Utahns involved in their wildlife community.

"Hopefully we're introducing children, and in fact their parents, to a natural world which contains thousands of interesting things to watch and see," says Bob Walters with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

Those who missed the goats Saturday need not worry -- wildlife officials say you can see them anytime you head up the canyon if you're paying attention.
