BLUFF, San Juan County — Authorities are offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of a man wanted on suspicion of assault on an officer.

San Juan County Sheriff’s Office officials wrote in a Facebook post Friday that they are are searching for Charles Singer, 26, in connection with an incident Thursday in Bluff.

Authorities said a deputy had recognized Singer when he saw him parked in a car in the parking lot of a business in Bluff and knew the man had "multiple outstanding warrants" for his arrest.

The deputy then approached the man and saw drugs and drug paraphernalia in Singer's car, according to a statement from the sheriff's office. The deputy attempted to arrest Singer and a struggle ensued before the deputy deployed a Taser.

However, the Taser didn't "penetrate effectively" and Singer struck the deputy in the face before he fled on foot, authorities said. He wasn't located Thursday evening after the incident.

Anyone with information about Singer’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office at 435-587-2237.
