OXON HILL, Md. (AP) — Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal says President Barack Obama has launched an "assault on the American dream."

The Republican governor says the Democratic president is trying to redefine success in America by dependence upon government. He was among several prospective presidential candidates who addressed the Conservative Political Action Conference in suburban Washington on Thursday.

Jindal faulted Obama for not doing enough to help improve the nation's educational system. He says that millions of American students are trapped in failing schools.

Jindal says it's time to revisit the notion that the president is a smart man. He calls Obama the worst president in his lifetime.
