KINGSTON, Ontario — An intoxicated man was arrested in Canada last week after trying to make children think Santa Claus is not real.

"As Christmas-themed floats slowly rolled down Princess St. during Kingston's annual Santa Claus parade, an intoxicated man shouted blasphemous lies to shocked children: Santa doesn't exist," the Toronto Star reported.

The 24-year-old man was arrested and was found to be on probation. He had gelled hair "formed to look like horns that were protruding from his head," according to a release issued by the police department.

"It was pretty despicable that someone, during this time of the year, would tell kids Santa isn't real — which of course we would argue," Koopman told the Star.

The incident isn't the first time someone has caused trouble by trying to pretend Santa doesn't exists.

The man, who police declined to identify, was granted bail in court on the condition that he abstain from alcohol. He was charged with breach of probation and causing a disturbance by being drunk, and faces additional charges of public intoxication, according to the police department.

The incident isn't the first time someone has caused trouble by trying to pretend Santa doesn't exists. A Chicago news anchor came under fire in 2011 for telling viewers they should lower their kids' expectations for gifts by telling them Santa's secret. The TV station's viewers — they flooded the station with angry responses.
