This is Marty Carpenter of the Salt Lake Chamber with your Utah Business Report.

Vivint, the largest home automation services company in North America, ranks second among a list of nationally renowned companies in the 2013 Inc. Hire Power Awards. The award recognizes private businesses that are leading the way in creating jobs and supporting the country's economic vitality. Together, recipients have created more than 51,000 jobs in 18 months.

The expansion of Vivint's workforce and corporate offices in 2013 play a huge role in its recognition. Vivint added nearly 2,000 employees in the last year, ramping up its staff by an impressive 40 percent.

Inc. Magazine also named Vivint the number one job-creating company in consumer products and services and the number one job creator in Utah. With more than 7,000 employees and 400,000 square feet of office space, the Utah-based company has become one of the state's largest technology employers.
