PRICE —The Duchesne Eagles are record breakers. They earned their 37th consecutive win on Friday as the Carbon Dinos fell victim to the impressive win streak.

"It's not only this team," said senior Matt Muir. "It started three or four years ago. It's not just us. A lot of hard work from years past, so we put all we had into it and we take it from what we got year to year."

"Just to know that all the hard work for the past four years paid off," said quarterback Trent Roberts.

"It's an honor to be their coach," said head coach Jerry Cowan. "We're proud of every team that's been here before."

However, the Eagles haven't accomplished their ultimate goal.

"We're 3-0 and these guys haven't won 37 in a row. They're a level headed group of guys. Their ultimate goal is to win state," Cowan said.

Duchesne jumped on Carbon early with big plays. Trent Roberts found Braxton Spencer for a 20-yard touchdown for the first score of the game.

Running back Matt Dye plowed his way into the end zone for 28 of his 94 yards for the second touchdown, and Matt Muir caught a 62-yard pass from Roberts to take a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

Short runs of two and four yards by Dylan Despain and Trent Roberts would push the lead to 35-0 at the half, and Duchesne would need no more.

Neither teams scored after halftime and the Eagles clinched the longest consecutive winning streak in the state. Timpview previously owned the record with 36.
