PROVO — We already knew that BYU point guard Jahshire Hardnett was departing as a graduate transfer.

But he's not alone in leaving Provo.

After its first sub-20-win season in the Dave Rose era, BYU wing Rylan Bergersen will be departing BYU, as well, the Cougars announced Thursday in a brief statement.

The 6-foot-6 guard from Boise, Idaho, played in just 50 games across two seasons with the Cougars, including career highs of eight points, four rebounds and three assists. The son of former NBA player Roberto Bergersen, who played at Boise State, will have two years of eligibility left, but maintains a redshirt.

Bergersen will have to sit out a season per NCAA regulations.

Hardnett will transfer after graduating in April. He'll be the first college graduate in his family after finishing his degree that started at Fordham and Chipola College (Florida), after averaging 7.4 points and 1.9 assists in two seasons with the Cougars.

BYU finished the 2018-19 season without a postseason tournament invitation for the first time since 2004-05, when the Cougars went 9-21 in the final year of ex-coach Steve Cleveland's tenure.
