SALT LAKE CITY — Week 11 of the NFL season is in the books, and it was a heartbreaker for one local.

Alex Smith (Utah)

Smith has had many people wishing him condolences after a devastating injury ended his season Sunday afternoon. Smith was sacked late in the third quarter and both his fibula and tibia in his right leg were broken. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for surgery, though the injury is not expected to be career ending. Before exiting the game, Smith completed 12-of-27 passes for 135 yards and two interceptions. The Washington Redskins went on to lose the game to the Houston Texans.

Kyler Fackrell (Utah State)

Fackrell had his best game of the year for the Green Bay Packers in Thursday night’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He ended the game with six tackles. But more importantly, three of his tackles were sacks. Fackrell now has four sacks in the last two weeks, which is what he had the entire rest of the year combined.

Tre’Von Johnson (Weber State)

Johnson has found himself a spot in the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers. Early last week, the Chargers placed Denzel Perryman on injured reserve and promoted Johnson from the practice squad onto the active roster. He is now the second active Weber State Wildcat in the NFL joining Taron Johnson.
