KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. will miss the next two to three weeks of spring practice as he continues his comeback from a knee injury that sidelined him for the entire 2017 season.
Volunteers coach Jeremy Pruitt said Saturday that Kirkland's knee had "a minor little cleanup." Pruitt said Kirkland might return for "the last couple of practices of spring."
Tennessee holds its spring game April 21.
Kirkland was expected to be one of Tennessee's top defensive players last year before the injury knocked him out. He made a combined 16 starts in 2015 and 2016.
Pruitt also said running back Tim Jordan had his appendix removed before spring practice but could return before the end of spring practice. Jordan rushed for 52 yards on 11 carries last season.
