SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Alexis Peterson had 16 points and nine assists, Brittney Sykes added 12 points and No. 20 Syracuse overwhelmed Coppin State 76-30 on Wednesday.

Syracuse (7-3) smothered Coppin State from the opening tip, holding the Eagles scoreless until Mia Crooms converted a layup with eight seconds left in the first quarter.

Coppin State (0-8) trailed 26-2 after one period and 43-7 at halftime as four Syracuse players totaled at least seven points by the break.

Abby Grant had a season-high nine points and Briana Day also had nine points with 14 rebounds for Syracuse.

Tiara Goode led Coppin State with 15 points, all on 3-pointers, and Keena Samuels had 11 points with 10 turnovers.

The Eagles didn't score in the third until Oluwaseun Adeniji converted a layup with 1:20 left in the period. Goode followed with a 3-pointer in the final minute, the Eagles' first make from long range after 12 misses.

Coppin State shot 21.8 percent (12 of 55). The Orange finished with 14 steals and 12 blocks.
