JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Dillon Buechel threw a career-best six touchdowns to lead Duquesne in a 54-35 win over Jacksonville Saturday.

Buechel had 393 yards on 23-of-32 passing for the Dukes (3-2). His favorite target was Wayne Capers Jr. who had 235 yards and four touchdowns receiving. A.J. Hines ran for 134 yards and Austin Crimmins kicked two field goals.

Buechel's six TD passes and Capers' four scoring catches both tie school records.

Buechel opened the second half with two touchdown throws to Capers — from 65 and 44 yards — to boost Duquesne's 20-14 halftime advantage to 34-14 with 11:09 to play in the third quarter. Jacksonville closed the gap to 34-28 but Buechel and Capers connected again to extend Duquesne's lead to 41-28 with 4:29 to go in the third.

Buechel was one of 40 players named this season to the College Football Performance Awards FCS National Player of the Year watch list.
