BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The University of Mary has hired former Marauders and University of North Dakota head football coach Dale Lennon as its public affairs director.

Lennon will work on marketing strategies and deal with community relations in his new role, which he will begin Feb. 22.

Lennon was Mary's head football coach from 1997-99, before moving on to UND. He left Grand Forks after 2007 to become head coach of Southern Illinois. He was fired after last season.

Lennon in 2001 led UND to the NCAA Division II championship and was named coach of the year by the American Football Coaches Association.
