With BYU's first ever "Blackout" scheduled for Saturday against Oregon State, the field at LaVell Edwards Stadium is getting a facelift. The mid-field oval "Y" was given a black paint job. The BYU players will be wearing brand-new black jerseys; while fans attending the game are encouraged to wear black.

You can add Marcus Mathews name to the growing list of players who have seen their seasons end due to an injury. Marcus will apply for a medical hardship waiver after it was revealed that he will require surgery.
"He's suffering from a condition like ear, nose, throat kind of stuff," Bronco said. "It's about a six-week thing. He's been sick over and over and over again. We get him back to practice and he's sick; and finally they've identified what it is, and it's going to continue all year, which doesn't give him a chance to really compete. He'd only played in three games. Once we heard that, and learned it was a six-week recovery, it was kind of waste really the rest of the year or put a stop to it and get it fixed, so we chose to do that."
Injured quarterback Taysom Hill is scheduled to undergo surgery on his knee next week. Hill's recovery time is 4-6 months.

BYU unsuccessfully attempted a fake field goal against Utah State last Friday night. When asked if he will try another fake field goal anytime soon, Bronco quickly replied, "Not for a while."
Speaking of special teams, Bronco said kicker Justin Sorensen is "banging them through." When asked if the protection on kicks is fixed, Bronco said, "we'll find out if the protection is fixed, but he (Sorensen) is kicking them through, so let's cross our fingers."
