SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Syracuse University has received a $25 million gift to the school's athletic department from a former football player. In recognition of the donation, John Lally and his wife, Laura, were presented with a commemorative football during Saturday's home game against Western Michigan. The school said details of how the money will be spent will be provided at a later date.

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Duke's next crop of freshmen is embracing the tough job of following Zion Williamson and his star-studded class. Turning the roster over is nothing new for the Blue Devils. They've had 17 one-and-done players since 2011. But Zionmania remains fresh, and that could make things challenging for these players. Freshman Cassius Stanley eclipsed Williamson's 1-year-old program record in the vertical leap. He says his classmates can't approach the season that way.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina can't afford another shaky first-half performance with No. 1 Clemson next on the schedule. The Tar Heels have fallen behind by double figures by halftime in losses against Wake Forest and Appalachian State. UNC has been outscored 41-13 in the second quarter of games this year.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville says forward Malik Williams will miss six to weeks with a broken right foot, leaving the Cardinals without their third-leading returning rebounder for the early part of the season. The 6-foot-11, 245-pound junior had a screw inserted into his fifth metatarsal after injuring the foot in practice last week. Williams averaged 7.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game and blocked 41 shots as a sophomore.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State coach Willie Taggart says starting linebacker Jaiden Lars-Woodbey is out for the season with a leg injury. Seminoles quarterback James Blackman and left tackle Jauan Williams are also day-to-day as they recover from injuries. Florida State plays host to North Carolina State on Saturday.
