UNDATED (AP) — LSU has earned a reputation the last decade or so as a program that relies on defense and usually does just enough on offense. That's what makes it so surprising to see the fourth-ranked Tigers emerge as the nation's highest-scoring team. LSU's 231 points represent the highest scoring total ever for a Southeastern Conference team through its first four games.
UNDATED (AP) — Wisconsin moved into the top 10 for the first time this season, landing at No. 8 in The Associated Press college football poll after a weekend during which seven ranked teams lost. The top of the rankings remained mostly unchanged. Clemson is still No. 1, followed by Alabama, Georgia and LSU. Ohio State edged past Oklahoma to No. 5. California was the big mover, jumping eight spots to No. 15. Michigan plummeted to No. 20.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Notre Dame lost another big game but gained some respect in its 23-17 setback to No. 3 Georgia. The Fighting Irish led at halftime and fought back at the end before their final drive fell short. Coach Brian Kelly says his team wants to see how it measures up against the best teams in the country, and this was certainly an encouraging performance. Next up for the No. 10 Irish is No. 18 Virginia.
