ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Jake Fromm threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Lawrence Cager early in the fourth quarter and No. 3 Georgia held on to beat No. 7 Notre Dame 23-17 on a raucous Saturday night between the hedges. In a game that could have ramifications all the way to the College Football Playoff, the Bulldogs rallied from a 10-7 halftime deficit to wear down the Fighting Irish over the final two quarters. The Fighting Irish were again denied the signature win they so desperately need over a top opponent.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — DeJon Packer's 19-yard rushing touchdown with 1:13 left propelled San Jose State over its first power conference opponent in 13 years, stunning three-touchdown favorite Arkansas on the road, 31-24.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Kylin Hill rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns to lead Mississippi State to a 28-13 victory over Kentucky. Mississippi State (3-1, 1-0 SEC) handed the ball to Hill, the Southeastern Conference's leading rusher 26 times in the game, taking some of the offensive pressure off freshman quarterback Garrett Schrader who started in place of injured senior Tommy Stevens, a Penn State transfer.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Joe Burrow threw for 398 yards with four of his school-record six touchdown passes to Ja'Marr Chase as fourth-ranked LSU rolled over Vanderbilt 66-38 in the Tigers' Southeastern Conference opener. The Tigers showed off their new high-powered offense scoring their most points this season and most in regulation against an SEC opponent ever. They needed 2:11 or less on their first seven scoring drives, and Burrow became the first LSU quarterback to throw for 350 yards by halftime.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Freshman Bo Nix threw a touchdown pass and JaTarvious Whitlow ran for a score as No. 8 Auburn built a big lead and withstood a late charge from Texas A&M to get a 28-20 win over the 17th-ranked Aggies. Nix didn't put up flashy numbers against the Aggies, but he looked poised and didn't make any big mistakes in his first true road game in front of a rowdy crowd of 101,681.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Kyle Trask threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns in his first collegiate start as No. 9 Florida beat Tennessee 34-3 and extended its dominance in the SEC series. Trask did enough to overcome three turnovers in his first start since his freshman year in high school in 2012. The Gators now beaten the Volunteers 14 times in the last 15 years.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — As Missouri senior linebacker Cale Garrett prepared to answer reporters' questions after a 34-14 victory over South Carolina on Saturday, he reached for the remote control clicker on the table in front of him in the Tigers' meeting room. For a football film buff, it's a habit.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Tua Tagovailoa passed for 293 yards and five touchdowns in just three quarters and No. 2 Alabama rolled to a 49-7 victory over Southern Miss. Tagovailoa had his second straight five-TD game and the Crimson Tide raced to a 28-0 lead in the first 19 minutes in yet another lopsided victory.
