FLINT, Mich. (AP) — A jury has acquitted former Michigan State basketball star Mateen Cleaves of sexual assault and other charges. The verdict Tuesday by the jury in Cleaves' hometown of Flint comes nearly four years after a then-24-year-old woman accused Cleaves of sexually assaulting her in a Flint area motel room.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee State quarterback Demry Croft has been indicted on six counts of rape and two counts of sexual battery. The 22-year-old Croft was released from jail Monday on $50,000 bond. The indictment against Croft says he engaged in unlawful sexual conduct and sexual penetration on Dec. 1 without the woman's consent.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) _ Authorities in the Dominican Republic have arrested former MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel and cited ex-infielder Luis Castillo for their alleged links to a drug-trafficking and money-laundering ring in the Caribbean and United States. The attorney general says police are also pursuing the alleged leader of the ring. "Eighteen other people are said to be linked to the network.

CLEVELAND (AP) _ Indians ace Corey Kluber has been shut down for two weeks with an abdominal strain, an injury he sustained during his comeback from a broken arm. Kluber was pulled from a minor league start after one inning. He returned to Cleveland and the team says the two-time Cy Young winner will not throw for two weeks before he's re-examined. The right-hander hopes to make an impact in Cleveland's playoff push.

UNDATED (AP) _ Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence headlines The Associated Press preseason All-America team presented by Regions Bank. He has two teammates from the top-ranked Tigers with him on the first team. Lawrence, the first freshman to quarterback to lead a team to a national championship in more than 30 years, was joined on the first-team offense by Clemson running back Travis Etienne. Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons was a first-team selection on defense.
