CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs earned a 5-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon behind Kyle Hendricks, who struck out 11 and allowed three hits and two walks over seven innings. Kris Bryant put the Cubs ahead to stay with a wind-aided, two-run double with the bases loaded in the second. Losing pitcher Merrill Kelly walked seven and surrendered three runs and six hits over 3 2/3 innings as the Diamondbacks ended a four-game winning streak.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Mets ace Jacob deGrom is returning to New York for an MRI on his right elbow after back-to-back shaky outings in which he has surrendered nine runs and 13 hits over nine innings. Manager Mickey Callaway said the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner has been scratched from his start Saturday at St. Louis. Callaway said deGrom's elbow was "barking" today, a day after playing catch during an off day.

UNDATED (AP) — Royals pitcher Brad Keller, White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson and Chicago manager Rick Renteria have been suspended by Major League Baseball for their actions during Wednesday's game. Keller received a five-game suspension after MLB concluded he intentionally threw a pitch that hit Anderson. Keller was angry after Anderson spiked his bat following a home run in their previous at-bat. Anderson and Renteria were suspended one game each.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Philadelphia 76ers are listing Joel Embiid (joh-EHL ehm-BEED') as doubtful for Game 4 of their first-round series against the Brooklyn Nets tomorrow afternoon because of a sore left knee that caused him to miss last night's game. Embiid worked out today at the 76ers' practice in New York, but coach Brett Brown said he didn't have a gut feeling about whether his All-Star center would be able to go tomorrow. The 76ers rolled to a 131-115 victory without Embiid and lead the series 2-1.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Cassius Winston says he is returning for his senior year at Michigan State, saying he has unfinished business. The All-American guard and Big Ten player of the year averaged nearly 19 points per game as a junior and broke a conference single-season record with 291 assists. Nick Ward is giving up his senior season with the Spartans to enter the NBA draft after averaging nearly 13 points and six-plus rebounds per game.
