CINCINNATI (AP) — Hue Jackson has landed back in Cincinnati, where he'll help head coach Marvin Lewis try to resurrect the Bengals' historically bad defense. The Bengals hired Jackson as a special assistant today, a day after Cincinnati fired its defensive coordinator and put Lewis in charge of running the unit. It's Jackson's third stint with the Bengals. He was their offensive coordinator before the Browns hired him as head coach after the 2015 season. Jackson was fired last month after winning only three games in Cleveland.
UNDATED (AP) — Three of the NHL's division leaders are in action tonight. Tampa Bay skates at Buffalo, Vancouver is in New York to take on the Islanders, and Nashville visits San Jose. The Predators suffered their first road loss of the season last night, 2-1, to the Anaheim Ducks. Nashville had won its first eight road games, a franchise record.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Golden State Warriors host Atlanta tonight in the second game of a back-to-back, their third of the season. The Warriors lost in overtime last night to the Los Angeles Clippers, 121-116, after the Clippers blew a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter.
HIROSHIMA, Japan (AP) — Ryosuke Kikuchi drove in the go-ahead run as Japan rallied with four runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat the MLB All-Stars 5-3 and take a 3-1 lead in their six-game exhibition series in Japan. The ninth-inning comeback started when Kirby Yates walked the leadoff batter Kazuki Tanaka, who stole second and scored.
LONDON (AP) — Former England and Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has retired from soccer. The 37-year-old Cole completed his career with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, scoring 104 goals in 716 professional appearances for seven teams.
