PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated right-handed reliever Jared Hughes from the 15-day disabled list.
Hughes had been out since straining his left lat muscle during spring training. He pitched four times on a rehab assignment for Triple-A Indianapolis and allowed five runs and seven hits in six innings with five strikeouts and three walks.
Also Saturday, right-handed reliever Rob Scahill was optioned to Indianapolis. He had a 6.00 ERA in eight appearances.
