CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs have claimed reliever C.J. Riefenhauser off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.
The 26-year-old left-hander spent parts of the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, going 1-0 with a 6.30 ERA in 24 appearances. He was traded to Seattle in November and dealt to Baltimore in December before being designated for assignment on Feb. 4.
To make room for Riefenhauser on the 40-man roster, the Cubs designated left-hander Edgar Olmos for assignment on Friday.
