CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — Americans marked the 50th anniversary of the first footsteps on the moon with festivities across the country. There were parties, races, concerts and museum exhibits Saturday celebrating the Apollo 11 moon mission. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon on July 20, 1969. Armstrong left the spacecraft first, proclaiming for the ages: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." In all, 12 men walked on the moon, the last in 1972.

UNDATED (AP) — A heat wave that has gripped much of the country has affected many major league ballparks, where players and fans are trying to keep cool. Temperatures are soaring to near triple digits this weekend, making it tough to play baseball and to watch it, too. The sweltering conditions are expected to continue through the weekend in some spots.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — The U.K.'s foreign secretary says the seizing of a British-flagged tanker by Iran's Revolutionary Guard "raises very serious questions about the security of British shipping and indeed international shipping" in the Strait of Hormuz. Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt spoke to reporters after an emergency government meeting about the "totally and utterly unacceptable" interception of the Stena Impero. He rejected Iran's assertion that Friday's incident was reciprocation.

NEW YORK (AP) — ESPN is reminding employees of the network's policy to avoid talking politics after radio show host Dan Le Batard criticized President Donald Trump and the network itself on air. An ESPN employee who requested anonymity because the person was not authorized to speak on personnel matters said Saturday the reminder went out Friday to all employees, including Le Batard. ESPN is not commenting. Le Batard called Trump's racist comment about four Democratic congresswomen of color deeply offensive.

LONDON (AP) — British Airways and Lufthansa both say they are suspending flights to Cairo for unspecified reasons related to safety and security _ the British carrier for a week and the German airline for just one day. The announcements come as Britain weighs its response to Iran's seizure Friday of a British-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
